Mega Update!

Dearest readers, I have not forgotten about you!
I was very busy this week with school, crafts (you will see these soon!)  and I even had some visitors from back home.

Here is a mega-update for the week, you can click on the photos to enlarge to see the details:
I finally had a chance to finish this acrylic set in school.  I am very pleased with the way it came out!
There are many different types of inlays in this set: marble, glitter, heart & star confetti, polka dots.
Here is a UV Gel set I did with glitter inlay and encapsulated hearts.

2 of my lovely friends, Debbie & Ayana, drove down from New York to visit!
We went to the beach.
Stayed long enough to see a nice sunset.
Visited some stores and found the world's cutest pomeranian puppy.  I named him Charlie.
And of course I did their nails!  Here is my first try at a 3D acrylic cupcake on Ayana.

And a hand painted french manicure with Hello Kitty & 3D acrylic bow for Debbie :)

What have you all been up to this week?
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Learning: 3D Acrylic Art

Yesterday at nail school was a very busy day!
We had an event called "Professional Day" and everyone was allowed to wear fancy clothes,
and we even decorated the school.
There are also a lot of students at this school studying cosmetology and aesthetician.
Each section of the school had to pretend that they were a real salon, so there was a "manager" and we kept track of how much "money" we made doing services.
Our "nail salon" won an award for top performance! :)

We also learned a little bit of simple 3D acrylic art..
It was a nice change from just doing pink and white acrylic.
Don't mind the weird plastic fingers, it's what they give us to practice on but they are kind of creepy!
3D Acrylic cherries, bows, and hearts over colored acrylic tips and painted leopard spots over red acrylic tip.
Here is a small Hello Kitty done on a regular pink & white, using 3D acrylic bow and striper brushes.

My new friend at nail school loves pansies, and her mother's name is Pansy so I tried to create a 3D acrylic pansy flower.. here is my first attempt!
It was difficult!
Since it was professional day, I made my boyfriend come in to get a manicure so I could make more "money" for the pretend salon hehe :)

Theme: Super Kawaii!

Here are some more kawaii nails :)

I entered these into an instagram contest.
It's a Hello Kitty sushi, cupcake, burger, ice cream and swirly rainbow lollipop!!
I love them so much, I'll be sad when it's time to take it off!
Here is a close up of the "sushi" nail!
I stuck sea salt grains to the wet topcoat to make it look like rice texture!

Theme: Super Kawaii!

I did these nails last night for a contest on Instagram (btw, follow me! @BadLuckBarbie)
The theme was Super Kawaii!  Kawaii actually means "cute" in Japanese ^_^
I did my favorite Sanrio characters!
I used nail polish and acrylic paint with nail art brushes.  They took about 4 hours.
Say hello to Keroppi, Monkichi, Badtz-Maru, Hello Kitty and Pochacco!!
I love them all!
Which one is your favorite?
